Going Bovine

So far I have made it through about a 1/3 through the book and I must say the characters are very vivid. The author really does a great of getting the reader to think back to when they were in high school or for readers that are still in high school thinking about their surroundings. Each character, I think, is a person that everyone has met or knew at some point or other in life. When the "fantasies" start in the book it is easy to imagine those characters as well because of the vivid descriptions. You can almost feel the fire giants as they are chasing Cam down the road and the pink Valkyrie seems almost like a new style anime cartoon character. The plot is well laid out and keeps the attention of the reader which is highly important to a YA book. It moves fast, the chapters are short, and there is good mixture of humor within the text all keeping the reader entwined in the story.
